Sorry things are so late! Thanksgiving through me off. I'll make it a quick post as we have all already digested most of what we thought about all of it.
Anyhow, these are my thoughts on the Glenn Lives! episode and the Shut Up Sam! episode.
Anyhow, these are my thoughts on the Glenn Lives! episode and the Shut Up Sam! episode.
Glenn is alive and I'm okay with that. However, the reason I wanted him to live was so that he could tell people that he was wrong, that everyone needs to stop being so hopeful when it comes to the Alexandrians. They are so far behind that they truly don't deserve the extra effort put forth to save them. That, in fact, in the end, it almost cost Glenn his life. I want Glenn and the others to learn from their mistakes.
I don't care what Deanna says in the mid-season finale -- that Rick needs to start thinking of them as his own people. It's only been a few days, as we have been reminded of incessantly. These people just are not ready yet to deal with the real world. Just as Rick predicted, his Scooby gang are making poor decisions trying to help these people that are just too far behind the curve. Maybe if the Alexandrians and Scooby gang had more time together, that would be a different story. That's just simply not the case.
The problem too, is that it's not just that the Alexandrians are new to the group -- they are new to everything, which is why Abraham and his group (minus Eugene) were way more easily added to the group. While not familiar, they weren't outright liabilities.

Jessie and her sons.
Oh my God, is Rick terrible at picking women.
First Lori, now Jessie.
This is about the worst parenting I have ever seen. Rick is making the same mistake he is telling his Scooby gang not to make, going out on a limb for an Alexandrian.
Perhaps Jessie is "getting it", but not enough to get her kids into line. See? This is what would have happened early on in the apocolypse if the Alexandrians had been exposed. Jessie's kids would have gotten them killed and then there would be none of this drama.
Because make no mistake, those two brats of hers are going to get someone killed.
The show is often confusing morality with stupidity. One can be moral, just not to a stupid fault.
As for Carl and Ron, stop it. Carl should have instantly told his father. Ron not only tried to kill Carl, but the end result jeopardizes the whole group, including Michonne, Judith, and Rick. That's something the whole group needs to know about so they can protect themselves. People online were stating that this is Carl becoming a man and handling his own problems. To me, it's a teenager who is acting like a teenager. He'd rather not get someone in trouble than tell. This isn't middle or high school. These types of things will get someone killed.
That's it for my thoughts.
Until February!
