Something I noted last week came into play in this season finale episode. Chuck is beyond jealous of Jimmy. The show revealed how truly bitter and vindictive Chuck can be because of this jealously when it came to their mother's death. Not even mere minutes after Chuck lectures Jimmy about what a horrible person Jimmy is, Momma McGill wakes up and asks for Jimmy, not Chuck. What a gut punch to Chuck. But you know what? So what does this spiteful man do? Withholds that information from his brother. What a dick. What a sad example of a human being.
Which brings up a full circle point. Chuck is mentally ill. He has personality disorders. It is not entirely outside of the realm that Chuck doesn't truly know what love is, or how to love. He plays the trump card of Jimmy's capacity to love against him. Chuck doesn't tell Jimmy that their mom's final words were for Jimmy. Chuck literally withholds this final act of love from Jimmy. Chuck also knows how much Jimmy desires love and validation from Chuck and Chuck chooses time and time again to withhold that love and validation from Jimmy.
I think Chuck is a sociopath. What I think, is the writers use Chuck's illness to garner sympathy for Chuck, but it's just a distraction from Chuck's true nature.
And, duh. It's TOTALLY Gus!
I love, love, love this show!
