Why did you take the elements of a show that were actually working and obliterate them?
These are my thoughts on the last three episodes (probably ever) of Sleepy Hollow.
Let's start with Joe.
We liked him! He was working! We liked the actor, we liked the character, we liked his story arc, we liked how he interacted with Jenny, we liked their relationship, and we liked how he moved the plot forward.
I know! Let's kill him off!
Let's add the father figure instead!
Idiots.
Also, only a few weeks prior, in episode 15, we wasted an entire episode claiming to have gotten rid of his inner beast forever. Why? Why would you do that if only 2 episodes later you were going to kill the character off when he turns into the very beast you spent time ridding him of? So stupid. Big fail.
The writers also hinted at a love affair between Icky and Betsy and then nothing came of it, either. Annoying. Another possible route the show runners could have taken was if the writers had made Icky haunted by why Betsy didn't return his love or why she seemingly disappeared. In this regard, the ending of Betsy's story line could have given Icky some type of closure, but, of course, this is not the case. Just a wasted character.
Clearly the show is ending. For a character that we spent so much time with, she just suddenly died as soon as she got power. Said death came from The Headless Horseman.
Ugh, I guess.
I mean, I kind of liked how The Headless Horseman was reintroduced, but it was just another reminder of how far this show has strayed. I liked THH, I liked Pandora. I wish the show wouldn't have ended Pandora with such a quick death. So much momentum lost when she finally broke free of her poor excuse for a husband.
And then there was one final straw ...
Proof is that you don't kill off Joe, Pandora, and Abbie and think the show is being picked back up. You don't destroy the Betsy Ross story line -- not that anyone cared, we all liked Zoe.
The show wrote for its closure. The fact that the show runners are trying to pretend like the show is getting picked back up next season are just screwing with their fan base.
But what's new? They've been doing that for quite awhile now.
Goodbye Sleepy Hollow, I'll miss what you could have been ...
Until next time!
