The last season of Sleepy Hollow was a rocky one for fans.
That's over now.
Memo received by the writers and producers.
This season has been exactly what we needed. It has been downright joyful to watch these two episodes, and isn't that what television is supposed to be about?
As Ichabod Crane would say, capital job.

So far, Icky's wife Katrina is gone -- thank goodness. That was a good step right there. It also seems Jenny's companion, can't remember his name, is gone, too. Good. Let's thin the heard of annoying characters.
That leaves the first two episodes focused on Ichabod and Abbie, which is glorious.
The show has focused on their relationship the last two episodes - a welcome return to the heart of the show, and all shows for that matter. When will writers learn the fundamentals? Characters and their interactions is what drives a show. The rest, whether it be vampires, zombies, a precinct, or an emergency room -- it doesn't matter. We want to see what the characters do next and how they relate.
The humor between the characters is where this show shines and it has returned in full force. Watching Icky deal with the way modern time has bastardized the colonial era is simply wonderful. Abbie smirking, Icky confounded -- pure delight for the actors, the audience and the writers. This is one half the heart of what the show was missing.
The mystery behind supernatural creatures disseminating evil and how the show astonishingly ties it to the colonial era was totally off last season. It's so stupid at times, how the show incorporates the American revolution, the viewer can't even believe the audacity of the writers. Yet, when the right chord is struck, this ridiculousness that borders on the absurd somehow works. That element of somehow is what was missing last season. I don't know how to achieve that somehow, but I'm glad the writers were able to right that ship. This season, the other half of the heart of the show, has been given new life.
I truly enjoy this show now and can't wait for the next episode. I look forward to settling into a little mystery, a moderate amount of supernatural, and a lot of extremely enjoyable humor.
Well done, Sleepy Hollow. You fixed what ailed you. You did what many others before, and currently, have not been able to do. For that, you deserve ratings success, great reviews, and many more fans and seasons to come.
