This episode is titled The Dog.
Wow! What an episode!
I have to say, this show is getting to be really, really fun to watch.
This week our two blended families are still miles apart. Travis is with his ex-wife and son amidst the LA riots in a barber shop with The Salazars.
Madison and company are still in the suburbs.
I'll start with Travis.
Travis and Daniel Salazar have a meeting of the minds and Daniel refuses to be indebted to Travis. However, as the shop is almost set on fire, the group has no choice but to flee. Daniel's wife, Griselda, seriously injures her foot, so Travis takes The Salazar family with him back to Madison's house.
Meanwhile, at the house, Madison is still keeping her daughter in the dark. Again, this is stupid. They finally see the Walker neighbor and decide to go next door to get a shotgun. Fine. However, when they return, neighbor is eating the dog. First off, a dog is much faster than a zombie, that's not gonna happen. You think a German Shepard is going to let itself get caught? By one zombie? No. I mean, maybe if it was encircled by a heard, but have you ever tried to catch your dog? Yeah, that only happens if they let you.
Nick is still trying to get his pills, but he is really trying to get the family to leave as well. It's clear that the kids don't view Travis as their real dad and would sooner leave him and keep the "real" family intact and safe.
However, we still have a ton of wishy-washy behavior on all accounts. Travis gets to the house, and despite all that he has seen, still goes up to his neighbor to have a nice chat about why he is eating a dog. So fucking stupid.
Them when Daniel actually shoots the dude, who is in fact now trying to eat Travis, all Travis can see is why did you do that?
Yeah, why? If he is too stupid to say thank you or to try and protect his own life, that I don't have high hopes for him in a true zombie apocalypse. I mean, he will clearly live in this one because he is the main character. Now, I have to agree with Daniel that the nice people are the first to go. Yeah, he makes a good point.

Also, once this all happens, Madison tries to do the right thing and kill the nice neighbor lady, because she would want the same done for her. Travis, again, tells her maybe the neighbor can be cured. The trappings of TWD are coming through in this show, too. Characters show growth, and then slide back into ostrich mode.
Lastly, I want to comment on the interaction between Madison and Liza. We all know that drug addicts can be manipulative, as Nick has shown here as well. It was interesting to see how Liza wanted to make a truce, and Madison used it as an opportunity to dig at Liza. As if to say, Travis could handle losing you, but me? It would break him.
Interesting character development.
Until next week!
