Poor Mike! He has gotten himself into something that he just can't get himself out of! Well, if anyone can -- it's him. I loved watching the acting in that scene. Mike, at the end, fists clenched. He's mad at himself, he scared, and he pissed. Oh, how I could watch an entire show just about Mike. I mean, we basically are, and will, but still .... he's sooooo fabulous (character and actor).
Then there is poor Kim! Man, that girl can hustle! She obtains the big client and Howard still won't forgive her. It's clear that he is persuaded far more by Chuck than he is willing to admit. It was such a great scene by the writers. To show us all of the hard work that Kim put forth was brilliant in it's ultimate set up for the bruising fall. She is devastated -- her soul crushed. We are crushed for you, Kim.
It made it even more excruciating to "bear witness" to Chuck's treatment of her. He treats her like a coffee-fetching woman. It's planned, don't be confused. Well, maybe not planned, but it is inherent to Chuck. He treats everyone like they are beneath him, on purpose. He LIKES to make people feel below him. He absolutely sets out to put her in her place. He wants her to know that he is doing it and why. He wants her to sit there and suck it up. Like a psychopath burning ants, he wants to see if she will squirm. When she doesn't, she somehow "passes" his test. She submitted. That's what he wanted. Now, only now, will he put in a good word to Howard for her. The sickest part of it, is he enjoys it. He smirks. He puts on an air like he doesn't know what he's doing ... we know -- Kim knows EXACTLY what he is doing. It makes the entire encounter that much more vile.
Excellent job, writers. Excellent job.
Am I the only one who hopes Chuck gets left in a room full of computers until he dies from a panic attack? Too much anger? Too much?
Until next time!
